St Thomas’s Golf Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Watts as head teaching professional.
Jon’s extensive experience as a teaching pro, youth coach and custom fitter will make him a really great asset at St Thomas's where he’ll be able to offer a great variety of help and advice to a wide range of players from scratch players, juniors, long established members or those new to the game.
Jon has worked as PGA teaching professional and senior custom fit specialist at the Belfry golf centre since 2001.
During his time there Jon graduated in the top three in his PGA training for the UK and Ireland and more recently became an AA PGA Professional.
He was also lucky enough to be involved in the 2002 Ryder cup, two Benson and Hedges tournaments and three Quinn Direct British Opens.
At the Belfry he was also the main custom fitter of over 10 manufactures clubs and was a custom fit specialist at European tour level, looking after many of the TaylorMade tour professionals as well as lecturing in custom fitting for the PGA trainee’s and was the club tester for Today’s Golfer.
He is also currently coach at Brocton Hall Golf Club.
Jon was recently appointed as a Staffordshire County Academy coach, where he helps to find and refine golf's future superstars. He works with school partnerships to offer tri-golf, and has set up a number of club links with local schools in Staffordshire.
